Medical Marijuana Legalization in Ohio
On June 8, 2016 Ohio became the 25th state to legalize the use of medical marijuana. This went into full effect 90 days after Governor John Kasich signed the Bill 253. This does not mean all marijuana is legal in Ohio, as recreational use is still prohibited by the law. This legislation allows residents of Ohio to be able to use medical cannabis in the form of oils, tinctures, plant material, edibles, lotions, creams, and patches by patients who have one of the 22 qualifying conditions. It’s important to know the difference between smoking cannabis and vaporizing it. Smoking plant material is strictly prohibited, it may only be vaporized. Residents of Ohio with a doctors recommendation will be allowed to legally bring medical marijuana across state lines into Ohio.
